In August last year Pope Francis said “It has never been clearer that, for peace to flourish, all people need to lay down the weapons of war, and especially the most powerful and destructive of weapons: nuclear arms that can cripple and destroy whole cities, whole countries,” (unreferenced)
“On 16 March, the United Kingdom announced that it would increase its limit on its nuclear arsenal for the first time in decades. Instead of decreasing its nuclear stockpile to 180 warheads in the mid 2020s, the United Kingdom will increase its stockpile cap to 260 warheads – a 40% increase. While most of the world’s countries have declared that nuclear weapons are illegal, the United Kingdom is moving in the wrong direction to increase its stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Already in 2019 alone, the United Kingdom spent $8.9 billion on its nuclear weapons.” https://www.icanw.org/uk_to_increase_nuclear_stockpile_limit

volunteers needed
January 2018

Every year in January the Church marks the Day for Migrants and Refugees, a Celebration of the lives and gifts of everyone who is a migrant or refugee in the world. In January in Musselburgh we would like to mark
The Day for Migrants and Refugees
in our parish community, to celebrate and recognise all of us who are migrants or whose families have been migrants into Scotland. But we need help to organise it! If you would like to be involved please speak to Miriam after Mass one Sunday or leave your details in the sacristy.
